Botox Brings Out Your Facial Beauty and Provides Dental Benefits
As time goes by, the lines in your face become deeper, forming wrinkles, smile lines, and crow’s feet that make you look older than you feel. If fine lines and wrinkles are bothering you, Dr. Abby Nye at Barron Family Dental can help. We offer Botox treatments to relax your facial muscles and smooth out your skin for a younger, fresher look. Keep reading to learn more about Botox. Besides smoothing out wrinkles, it also has some amazing dental and health benefits.
How Does Botox Work?
Botox is the commercial name of an FDA-approved toxin that is injected into certain facial muscles that cause your skin to wrinkle and fold. The Botox treatment paralyzes the targeted muscles, keeping them from contracting. When these muscles are completely relaxed, the skin above them smooths out. This reverses the signs of aging, so you look younger.
In just a few minutes, you can get a Botox treatment that enhances your appearance by removing the following types of facial issues:
- Wrinkles around your eyes
- Horizontal lines on your forehead
- Vertical lines between your eyebrows
- Frown lines
- Smile lines
- Fine lines around your lips
Botox treatments are not permanent. It takes seven to ten days for the injection to relax your muscles, and then it keeps them relaxed for two to six months. You can ask your dentist how often you may receive the Botox injections.
You do not have to worry about the facial muscles that you use to express yourself. The muscles that you use to smile, frown, wink, and scrunch up your nose will still fully function. Your normal facial expressions will not be affected by the Botox treatments.
What Else Does Botox Do?
Traditionally, Botox is used for relaxing facial muscles and decreasing wrinkle lines. Doctors and dentists have found other wonderful uses for this easy treatment, including:
- Lessen or eliminate the occurrences of migraines and tension headaches
- Assist with teeth-grinding or jaw-clenching problems
- Help people suffering from TMJ disorders
- Relax upper lips to reduce the appearance of your gums when you smile
- Decrease muscle pain in your jaw or head
If you are suffering from any of the above problems, and you want to know if you are a good candidate for dental Botox treatments, feel free to ask your dentist or doctor.
